You can now purchase your .Tel for all your contact info.  That information will be hosted by British registrar Telnic. Targeting owners of smart phones these domains go at the value of $300+ dollars.  Until February, the owners of trademarks could register their domains but now the Landrush is on!

 

Telnic will offer domain owners a special interface that allows managing their database of contacts. Here’s what you get: a page hosted by Telnic (the company behind .Tel) that includes your name, phone number, fax number, email, and other links you want to add. Although, they are not allowing uploads of any pictures or company logo (could of been a cool personalization add on).

The data is public, but you can choose to hide some of the data and show it just to friends. The whole idea behind this is that you don't have to give out your business card anymore and just tell people your .Tel address.

In reality .Tel is not doing anything super game changing.  The services they are providing, other services like Facebook, Bebo, etc. already do.  But hey, if you want to feel cool and be able to give out your blank.tel name, while spending a few Benjamin's in the process, I'm not going to knock you for it (Well maybe a little).
