Efren Toscano - TechZulu CEO/Co-Founder

Working as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Medmania in late 2007, Efren Toscano Co-Founded TechZulu in the heart of Southern California: Orange County. Focused on providing a platform to showcase all that is happening here in Southern California in the tech and media space, TechZulu is rapidly growing to be the hub for Southern California technology companies news source.  The site's videos have been featured on Southern California's cbs2 and Efren has been selected as a Top 20 MostPublic Individuals in Los Angeles in Tech and Biz by NowPublic.

Efren divides his time between San Diego, Los Angeles and tech events around the US.

 

Geoffrey Emery - Senior MSFT Correspondent

Geoff has been in using computers since he was 5 years old. He is Microsoft MVP and a avid Developer specializing in everything from mobile to web development. Geoff loves to get out there and break down hard technologies into bite size nuggets for people to engulf and enjoy.

 

Enrique Gutierrez - Manager of Business Development

Enrique specializes in process automation, user-interface design and experience development, data-organization, database driven applications, online marketing campaigns, project management, online marketing optimization, photographic manipulation, digital photography, audio engineering.

 

Alex Reich - Editor in Chief

Alex eats technology for breakfast lunch and dinner, often with his EeePC on TechZulu. Alex has been in and around the startup scene since an early age. He sold his first original text adventure game on cassette tapes for the TI-99 4A using a dot matrix printer and a food sealer. In the late 90s, he was President of the Orange County Visual Basic Users Group and later founded 2 more user groups in the Triangle area of North Carolina and in Findlay, Ohio. In the last several years, he has consulted directly for both SMBs and Fortune 500 companies, including one Burbank-based company with an iconic mouse.

Alex is excited to be TechZulu’s first Editor In Chief and promises to keep up the good content, while surfing on the digital edge. Alex is also an active independent freelance programmer and author of Oops I’m Late!, a calendar + gps solution. He enjoys good writing, simple tech that works, and compelling digital media.

Alex lives with his family in Los Angeles and has an office in Venice.

 

John Raya - Production Manager

With an art background, I started off as the graphic artist for Medmania Inc. As the company grew, so did my skills.  I was pushed further and harder to hone my skills in a variety of creative software. With the rise of Techzulu, I found a new love in online video. It is my personal goal to put out content that inspires and informs all of its viewers.

 

Amanda Coolong - Beta PR

Amanda is definitely no stranger to the tech start-up realm. She is the Principle and Founder of Beta PR, a PR consulting firm for emerging technology companies. She specializes in and has experience with networking, telcos, wireless, content management, IT security, Web services, and digital media.

 

Wm. Marc Salsberry - Entrepreneur
Business Development, Creative Direction, Photography

With over twenty years of experience in creative design and direction, Mr.Salsberry is a team builder, mentor and evangelist who has had the pleasure and good fortune to work with many industry innovators and professionals.From his initial work in ground-breaking multi-media with production companies such as Camfel Productions and Motivational Media Assemblies to his more recent work with New Media and Social Networks, he has been able to use his talents to help start and develop companies and products that have won awards and accolades from industry organizations, print publications and his peers.

In 2005, after helping to launch a company that designed and manufactured high-end home theater speakers described as the ‘Apple of Audio’ Mr. Salsberry was asked to join another project closely related to and dealing with Apple. Called mStation Audio, this new company set out to design and manufacture high-quality iPod speakers and accessories. Within the first year after the successful launch of mStation Mr. Salsberry helped mStation to recruit NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony as an investor and endorser of their products. Not long after that he played an integral part in helping mStation to acquire ‘mophie’ an award winning and innovative iPod case and accessories company whose new products have caught the eye and pocketbook of both Apple and their iPod/iPhone fan base.

These days Mr. Salsberry is working closely with a charity called MEND Meet Each Need with Dignity – www.mendpoverty.org) on their ‘Stop Summer Hunger’ campaign while developing two new projects set to launch in early 2009. He is also working closely with TechZulu to document the rise of New Media, Entertainment and Technology in Southern California. His photographs, original content and interviews will all be featured on the site.

Damien Howley - MindTouch

Not only did Damien Howley help out with the new kick ass TZ design but he is also a contributing writer for Techzulu. Damien Howley is no stranger to the San Diego tech community. He is the Graphic Designer of Mindtouch.com and as a contributing writer for TechZulu, Damien will focus on the tech news around the San Diego community from the latest events to reviews. Cristina Cinque - Basement Inc.

In addition to being a TechZulu Correspondent, Cristina Cinque currently works for Basement, Inc., a boutique interactive advertising agency, located in Santa Monica.  Her role there consists of account planning, strategy, and social media marketing.  Clients at Basement have ranged from entertainment, e-commerce, social networks, retail, and more.  Prior to Basement, she worked in Out of Home Media and New Media for the music industry.   She says that “TechZulu has provided an amazing opportunity to connect with different types of people in the tech, entertainment, and advertising industries and hopes to integrate those relationships on a personal and professional level.”  She can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Martine Beerman - Guide to Getting a Life

Part party, part "party planner," Martini Beerman pretty much does it all. From hosting, to writing and producing original content, her experience in media has spanned from television to involvement with production of live and interactive Internet media. She got her kick-start in media production and hosting in 2005, when she created "Santa Barbara Stew," which she wrote and then co-hosted alongside some of her peers. After relocating to Los Angeles she created Guide To Getting a Life, a half hour of lunacy and learning about the world's most unusual careers. Guide to Getting a Life aired for a year and a half and featured careers such as Colon Hydrotherapy, Shark Diving, a 300 Lb Male, Nude Model and an Extreme Crush Stunt Artists to name a few! Melani Gordon - gWave Consulting, Inc.

Melani joins TechZulu as a San Diego Corespondent and also is the principal and founder of gWave Consulting. Melani leads a team that helps clients enhance their Internet presence to build brand awareness through the use of search engine optimization, strategic marketing, and online marketing communications. Melani has more than 10 years of technology and Internet marketing experience. Prior to forming gWave, she served as marketing manager at an Internet technology company, where she led the marketing, branding and communication efforts to more than 18,000 real estate agents and brokers. Melani also has been a key player for several San Diego interactive agencies and Internet technology startups.

 

Josh Highland -not Popular

Josh Highland joins TechZulu as a Correspondent for the Inland Empire. Josh is a tech fanatic and a seasoned web veteran with over 10 years of experience as a professional web developer. Living in the Inland Empire area of California his entire life, Josh has worked for several I.E. based dot com start ups over the years. Currently he is a Lead Web Developer for ESRI, one of the premier tech companies in Southern California

In 2001 Josh created notPopular.com, a social network for underground music fans. Following his love of music, he helped form and sing for the band xDEATHSTARx. After several recordings and national tours, in 2006 Josh left the band to further his career in the tech industry. Currently Josh hosts the notPop podcast, a bi-weekly view into the news surrounding underground music, while continuing to develop the notPopular.com community, and blogging at JoshHighland.com

 

Christopher Darbro - Hawthorn Studios

Chris "rocknrollgeek" Darbro is no newbie in the tech scene. From his beginnings picking locks and computer hacking as a child, to his work today in technology consulting with Fortune 100 companies, he's seen it all. He loves all things tech and has worked with every facet of it, for companies like Disney, Microsoft, ABC Television, and even the US Government. In addition, he's been a guest speaker on Technology at the National Association of Professionals and Students Conference, staff for 2 of the largest and most lucrative security conferences in the US, Blackhat USA, and DEFCON, and also co-organizes the Bi-Annual Los Angeles BarCamp Conference. When he's not geeking out, he's rocking out, either listening to great music, or playing it himself on guitars or vocals, and always trying to do his part to bring a little extra sunshine to the world.
