Thoora: News Aggregation Done Right
Startup

Aggregation seems to be the magic word for 2009.  Here is one company I believe is doing best.  News aggregating company Thoora gives you all your media news, social and traditional, in one place.  Thoora has recently come out of private beta offering their free service of breaking news that is based off of millions of blogs, thousands of traditional media outlets and Twitter.  After pulling in from all these sources Thoora categorizes them under 25 different sections that include video games, sports, mobile, technology, entertainment, etc.

Before you begin diving into the stories you are welcomed by a dashboard similar to Digg.  These stories are judged by the reactions that they have had on the internet. Rather then just the community votes.  The top stories are those that have had the most reaction (tweets, blog posts, etc.) on the web.

The one thing that truly separates Thoora from the rest which I thought was amazing was the addition of open analysis.  They provide real-time track-backs to all their stories.  A few other features are internal commenting and social media sharing.

We interviewed Michael Lee Founder of Thoora during BlogWorld Expo 09 where he told us why he started the company and where he is taking the company in the future:
