YWaiter: Let Your Phone Be the Waiter
Entrepreneurship
Written by Efren Toscano

If you like to take your time to order food, like me, or even if you don't and already know what you want when you are seated YWaiter may be the iPhone app for you.  Ywaiter allows you to dine-in or take-out orders directly from your phone.  For restaurants that want to they are able to offer exclusive discounts through YWaiter similar to Foursquare "Special Offers", saving you money and making me happy.

You are able to do everything from ordering your food, providing special notes to customize your order, to even having a tip calculator in the payment section when you check-out.  Although, since a waiter is no longer helping you with your order does that mean the server will be getting the majority of the tips now?  Well that will need to be something the restaurants need to figure out.

Currently the app is available for the iPhone but an Android app is not to far behind i'm sure.  The application is completely free to download and is also completely free for restaurants to signup.  I hope that encourages a few restaurants in my area to signup because currently there are zero that are.  So if everything is free then how are they going to make any money to keep YWaiter going?

What I'm assuming is that they are going to be charging restaurants who want to advertise on the homepage or "Featured Restaurants" section.

I think this is an awesome idea and will definitely take off if they can get tons of local restaurants or a few big ones to adopt YWaiter as an option for customers.  There are a few other apps out there that do similar to what YWaiter offers, but none that offer the complete ordering experience from start to finish like YWaiter.  If you want to give them a try and checkout the app for yourself you can find it in the iTunes Store here.  They are a Phoenix Arizona based company so there are a handful of restaurants there already using it to take orders.

Would you like to take complete control of your restaurant ordering experience?  Would you like to see more restaurants participating in more applications like these?  Let us know in the comments below.
